THE MEANINGLESS AND THE ABSURD
The Diaghilev Museum of Contemporary Art hosted an exhibition of Bashar Salha's digital artworks on 26.5.2022.

Bashar Salh's 2021 project is dedicated to overcoming the existential crisis by the young generation of Syrians whose childhood or youth were tested by war. A generation at the crossroads between East and West. In his reflections, the artist refers to the experience of philosophical thought. The direct deep personal experience of the dramatic events of Bashar Salh was expressed in a poetic cycle, which was later supplemented with illustrations made in computer graphics, and then with the help of blockchain technology, the words were translated into images. The name of the project “THE MEANINGLESS AND THE ABSURD” refers to the absurdism of A. Camus, who comprehends a person in the realities of World War II and post-war Europe.
TO NOWHERE TO EVERYWHERE

This is a mind that lies to itself, a mind that is subject to external influences from social and national ideologies and the stamps of the times, one that is destined for social determinism. As a consequence, he is pressed and alienated to make his personal world resemble that of a collective rather than an individual one.

THE UNIVERSE 25

The notification keeps ringing, and the small red light keeps flashing.
I hear it and it keeps me on her track. I see the small red light that keeps flashing in the pitch black.
Inside a room, a concrete box, I am.
Not what I should be, not me, but a pawn who thinks that he is free.
The will of life for whom I am brought to serve.
Is hiding something from me, her jealousy is suffocating me.
oh, will of life. I thought your love was unconditional.
I believed you were God, something untraditional.
I thought, you are my mother, to whom I will return and cry; but for you, I'm only a seed Blended in a land that is dry.
Will of life, my mother, what went wrong, you said I could rest my head on your shoulder and you'd sing me a song.
And the notification keeps ringing, and the small red light keeps flashing.
I hear it and it keeps me on her track. I see the small red light that keeps flashing in the pitch black.
You warned me not to look; you said I'm too weak, but from behind your shoulder I just wanted to take a peek.
And now I'm self-aware. Inside of a room, a concrete box, a complicated maze I'm trying to get out of. I know I see the clocks.
I have to cut the cord that attaches us. I have to find my rhyme. But please, before I go, sing me your song one last time.
Oh, will of life. I know...
The notification keeps ringing and telling, and the small red light keeps flashing and showing.
For me to hear it and be on your track, for me to see you, in the pitch black.

In all of this, the human being is insecure, anxious, lost, without a compass; and no matter how well he has constructed the world around him, it can collapse into chaos, a rollercoaster of war, disease, suffering and pain.

THE DREAM

Toward the end of every loop it may seem meaningless and absurd; but the journey must never stop there, as all the choices can go both ways, high and low.

THE MEANINGLESS WAY

Modern Humans have to confront all this heavy burden and move forward to create a more hopeful and colorful world, counting only on themselves, counting only on their possibilities, with no guarantees, standing once again to build a more stable world for the benefit of all.
